From victim to sovereign

Hello lover, thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. This is a space for me to give you tools and guidance to help you become more aware of your thoughts and beliefs so you can actively create the life YOU desire.

let’s get started!!

Today I want to talk a little about the victim archetype that we ALL go through and experience.

Let’s go to the beginning… Since childhood, many of us have experienced trauma, neglect, emotional abuse, and many many hardships in our lives that have disconnected us from our bodies, and disconnected us from the reality that life is safe and beautiful to experience. This belief is a coping mechanism our bodies build because they LOVE us sooo much that they want us to experience the world in the softest way possible despite our circumstances. But y'know at some point as we begin to settle in the familiar and the known we begin to really lose more sight of who we truly are at our core.

The truth that speaks loudly of your curiosity and your drive for growth and change. Yet because of your trauma you have let yourself go blind and be distracted in the everyday nitty-gritties that have been keeping you in a loop of frustration.

This frustration is here to remind you of your bigger truth. To let you know that you are capable of far more than what you have settled in and cocooned yourself with.

And trust me I KNOW how hard it is to start questioning your life because it feels like everything is falling apart. And there is this huge fear that lives in your heart holding you back from taking actions that you know deep down in your heart are what you truly desire to experience and live through in this life. And aside from the fear that stems from your lack of sense of safety, you’re also probably experiencing unworthiness-with your mind filled with thoughts that sound like: who am i to receive this? Why would they hire me? I cannot do this. I don't know enough, I am not qualified enough, there are many other more capable humans than me. Why would I succeed? That’s only to name a few from the ever flowing river of doubt. Sounds familiar?

I also know that some of you might feel triggered as you read this. Or you might be feeling this discomfort and restlessness-almost tempting you to close the page and distract yourself with the countless activities and responsibilities out there. Yet I ask you to take a deep breath here with me and allow me to ease your mind and remind you of your humanness.

It’s okay to be having all these feelings. We can both acknowledge here that we have been victims. Victims of our parents, of our societies, of our friends, family members, strangers, the justice system, the medical system, the education system, by colonialism and war. We have seen SO much pain all around us and we felt helpless and hopeless. sometimes we even lay on the ground crying our hearts out and wishing-dreaming of a better and easier way of being.

Today I am here to tell you that the reality you dream of exists; and not only is it real, But you can also tap into it right now. Starting today you can begin inviting this reality into your life and allow it to lead you with grace and ease.

You might be thinking to yourself-oh but this sounds too good to be true, or I have suffered too much to be able to do anything that will change this.

I accept your challenge.

To prove to you that what I am saying is true I am going to tell you a few ways you can begin your healing that will jumpstart your journey to freedom and pleasure.

Do these for 30 days and I KNOW you will be a whole new person.

They are:

  1. Journaling (Mind)

  2. Yoga/movement (Body)

  3. Meditation (soul)

These sound simple to some of you and to others you might still have that resistance inside that’s telling you, i’ve tried everything and NOTHING worked. Or I am too tired to do these, I have way too many responsibilities and I am burnt out.

This is exactly WHY you NEED to practice these.

Journaling:

Journaling will be your first safe space for your mind, a place for you to reflect on your inner-narrative and the belief system you have built throughout your life. This is important because your belief systems rule how you show up in life, what you’re able to experience, and what you allow to come in to your life (yes including pleasure) let this exercise show you how you might be the one holding yourself back from growing past the pain and being able to access your juiciness and sensuality.

This is also a good place to start practising self-forgiveness and compassion with yourself as you retell your story, unload your heart and clear your mind. You will find SO much is coming out once you allow yourself to freely express in your journal. This will activate your throat chakra which will expand beyond your journaling time and true self-expression will become a regular thing you do in every single situation and conversation.

Yoga:

Yoga and movement are your best friends. I know. I know it SUCKS. (at first) but this is something that you can find a way to connect to. It does not have to be yoga. It can be anything you want it to be. I've tried zumba, kickboxing, yoga, dancing, HIIT, walking, hiking. Literally it can be any activity that will CONNECT you back to your body. Because this is the goal here. To get you out of your head and into your body. Because sister, we came into this world to experience life through our bodies, using our senses and not just living from spirit or in our minds, we are here to PHYSICALLY live.

So move your body.

In fact this is where you have stored ALL the emotions you avoided processing during your hardships, and they are probably the same emotions you are distracting yourself from experiencing right now. And the result of holding on to these emotions and traumas for so long is that your body will feel tired, it will ache and be filled with dis-ease. Allowing this energy to move and flow will help you immensely to get rid of what does not serve your purpose and growth and be able to show up in life with better hormones, and with ease.

Meditation:

Lastly meditation, if only it was for 10 minutes a day it will regulate your nervous system, put you at ease and give you the clarity to go through your day with confidence. Meditation is a great way to connect to yourself before you begin journaling because it will take you inwards to the shadows where you hide your truth. It will also connect you to the divine and to source. This is the place where you can receive unconditional love, where you can cultivate safety, and where you can feel gratitude in your heart which will allow you to attract more blessings into your life. And abundant love, safety, and forgiveness will become your reality.

These are gems for you to heal and to reconnect to your power and truth. Yes you’ve been hurt and betrayed and it takes so much courage to finally acknowledge the struggles you’ve faced. But darling, please don’t stay here forever. Take your time to process your experience but at some point you have to get off the ground, dust your butt and move on through remembering your innate power. NO ONE and NOTHING can take your power away. It is only forgotten. So use these tools I gave you to remind yourself of your power. Take responsibility for your own healing. You deserve to live with ease and you deserve to live through your dreams.

  • It’s okay to prioritize yourself and your healing

  • It’s okay to take your healing journey one step at a time.

This is not a race. There is no deadline. Let your healing unfold in its divine timing. And in the meanwhile focus on honoring and showing up for yourself.
