Deliverance
Take aways from today’s class:
1. Women’s connection to the Earth ( nature is curvy, mud is what we’re made of, flowers look different but they’re all beautiful and have their own unique medicine and energy that they give back to the world. the Earth is the original mother. )
2. How our environments affect our relationship to ourselves and the importance of setting boundaries.
3. Patriarchy and beauty standards (taking less space, male gaze, trends, even rejecting the femininity, how the patriarchy goes back beyond you and this lifetime. different cultures have different beauty standards and even understandings of gender. )
4. How disconnection from our body blocks us from knowing ourselves and therefore finding our purpose and feeling fulfilled.
5. Our relationship to our body describes our relationship to pleasure - finding balance allows more pleasure to flow into our lives
6. Toxic body positivity and what true body positivity is (not taking care of yourself in the name of “acceptance’ when real love would be to hold yourself accountable and take the proper actions to achieve what would make you truly happy)
7. What to do when you’re triggered (allow yourself to cry or feel your emotions don’t avoid, place your hands on your body focus on the sensations, hug yourself, repeat to yourself the functions of your body and how it has helped you so far (i suggest highlighting beautiful moments with your body at a time you’re feeling good so you can easily access that information when you’re wanting to shrink and hide))
8. Self worth, feeling of enoughness and fullness (forgiving the body, forgiving ourselves, forgiving those who triggered us, realizing that our body tells our story the scars, the sensations, the rolls every bump is like a curve of a mountain, it holds wisdom and tells the truth of who you are, what you have experienced, you get to wear those scars with pride, they are tokens of recognition)
