Our planet, Climate change and COVID-19

As I was watching Our Planet, a documentary on Netflix. It dawned on me how much humans have disturbed the natural order of the earth. I knew before that; climate change is a pressing problem but the more I watch and read about the impacts we humans have made, it makes me more scared.
I like to think of life like when you knit. You know how if you mess up on part of connected knots all the other knots will be affected? Well life is like that. For so long there was a balance in nature that assured the survival of every species on earth. However , after humans evolved and technology advanced, and populations increased dramatically. That natural order has changed. Yet, we still see humans refusing to acknowledge the problem even when science supports it. Even when there is evidence of the ruins humans have created. As one of the “most advanced” and “evolved” species on earth, and as the ones who have disturbed the balance, it is our responsibility to take action and do something to bring back the balance. Because we may think we are not affected by this but we are.
Species are dying. The earth is warming up and the atmosphere is becoming more and more toxic.
COVID-19 has made everyone in every single country to stay at home, to only buy and get the essentials. To learn to craft or to spend more time researching and learning. And the earth is taking its time in healing. I am not saying COVID-19 in any way a good thing. It is tragic how many people are dying and how many are going through hard times and will continue to have a hard time even after the pandemic is over. But, for the first time in a long time, CO3 levels are lowered. The puncture in the auzon has closed, and the earth is cooling. All because urbanization is on a break. This shows you that we have the power to make a difference. We have the power to help each other and the world heal so why are we denying that? Why are we persistent on living in an imbalanced planet? Why are we fighting for a toxic way of living? For money? To grow businesses? In situations like these I see how the ego of world leaders or people high up in the hierarchy seems more important than the literal survival of mother earth and everyone and everything on it.
Some people like to argue with me about the accuracy of climate change and they try to convince me that it is all a conspiracy and that it’s being exaggerated by the media. But even then, I say, even if what you say is true, even if climate change is not as big of a problem as the media says. After seeing and analyzing the consequence of our actions as humans and how badly it is affecting nature and how it is making species suffer. Don’t you want to grow away from that and learn from the mistakes we made and try to be better at living?
Urbanization and technology grew and burst into our world at vast speed. We’ve been growing as economies and we’ve been asking for more and more and more without ever feeling like what we have is enough. Without taking breaks or accepting where we are. And in turn while we were wrapped up in our ego materialistically happy about where we are. We forgot to step back and observe the consequences of our actions. We keep refusing to take responsibility. Forgetting that nature not only is important for the survival of the physical body and other species, but that it is also vital for our mental health and our spirituality. Nature helps cleanse us from the negative energy, nature helps us remember where we come from, it helps us to sit and think and dive into ourselves. Nature is the very essence of humanity and yet we are ruining it.
And although it may seem like we’ve gotten to a point where it could be “too late” or that people are too in their heads to care I have hope. I have hope because I know that there are people just like me and you who care about the world. There are people who go out of their way and take responsibility that others refuse. We are the heros of this world because we are taking action. By doing things like becoming vegetarian or vegan, becoming minimalists, by going plastic free, or recycling … etc
No matter what small the action you are taking is, trust me it is making a difference. You are one person less ruining the world, you are one more person influencing others to question their decisions before making them , you are one person more educating and vibrating on an energy of love. Because you love nature and you love yourself enough to understand that it is also affecting you and I am proud of you and I am proud of me.
As much as COVID-19 may seem bad, i like to always look for a good reason of why such a big traumatic experience is present and I see that nature healing is a good reason, i see that people sitting at home with nothing to do are forced to sit with their thoughts to reflect and heal from their past experiences, people are becoming more connected to their families and friends, and most importantly people are finally realizing how grateful they should be for the things they have. Because we all have things to be grateful for but in a world filled with businesses that are based on consumerism we think we need more and we forget to appreciate what we have. So we buy more, businesses and factories create more products and we harm the environment around us more and more.
Let me make it clear how toxic and bad consumerism is:
For one product to be manufactured you need labour, people travel with their cars to go to their job at a factory which operates on fuel and machinery, aside from all the plastic, and the burning of fuel and all the toxic chemicals that goes into the product and the process of making it, employees also need safety gear like gloves, hairnets, bodysuits etc. then there is the packaging of the product and then there is the shipment of the product because usually products are made in factories in third-world countries (environmental racism but this is a conversation for another time) and then there is the shipment inside the countries selling the product itself. You see all of those ways of toxic waste that go into making ONE product in ONE factory. Imagine the HUGE amount of waste produced WORLDWIDE.
This is why we must be aware and mindful of the things we consume. Because it is directly affecting the earth and environment. This doesn’t mean that we should just cut back on everything as well but it means that we should be looking for ways to restore the balance. Urbanization and technology have brought us so far in life and we should all be grateful for the things we got to experience and explore because of technology but now is the time to find better ways to continue living. A way to sustain the balance of earth so we can all evolve to a better and more connected, more loving way of life.
Criticizing is not about focusing on the bad side of things. It’s a way for us to see what is happening around us and what our actions have made so we can learn because that is what life is all about. Learning. And now is the time to learn and improve. To a greener and more balanced world.
