sound bath healing
Scherri Dickson held an event at Soulful Energy on Saturday October 30 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
She said the event is for people to find relaxation, restore their energy and to get to a meditative state that allows them to be calm and stay in the moment.
As participants arrived at a sound bathing event held by Scherri Dickson, they began to make themselves comfortable on their yoga matts by stretching, laying down and conversing with one another. The event was hosted at Soulful Energy in Fort Erie.
After sitting down relaxed with blankets wrapped around the participants, and their hands resting on their legs, the sound bathing event started with a guided meditation and controlled breathing following the voice of Scherri Dickson.
Following a quick guided meditation, the host of the sound bathing event, Scherri Dickson walked around participants with a handcrafted singing bowl and slowly placed it on the participant's stomachs so they absorb the vibrations of the sound.
The sound bathing event was hosted by Scherri Dickson at Soulful Energy in Fort Erie. The greenhouse is owned by Natalina Giovinazzo who joked at the beginning of the event saying, "we don't grow plants we grow people." The event ran from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m.
The first item used in the event for energy healing was the handcrafted singing bowl. which works by producing sounds and vibrations when hit and circled with a mallet. Those sounds and vibrations are supposed to help the receiver relax.
"For people to be able to open their minds and know that it is okay to take time for themselves and to look within and not to be scared to do that." said Scherri Dickson, host of the sound bathing and yoga event held on Saturday October 30.
Scherri Dickon, host of the sound bathing event has been a yoga, meditation, sound therapy, reiki, energy worker for 10 years and is currently studying message therapy at Trillium College.
Scherri Dickson, host of the sound bathing event said what inspires her to do energy healing is seeing how people are after the sessions and knowing she is making a difference in somebody's day.
The crystal singing bowls work by producing sounds and vibrations when hit or circled with a mallet. Each crystal singing bowl is used for a specific chakra in the body.
Chakra means “wheel” and refers to energy points in your body. They are thought to be spinning disks of energy that should stay “open” and aligned, as they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. Humans have many different points of energy but we focus on the seven most important ones. The crystal singing bowls produce different vibrations and frequencies of sound that target specific chakras.
Scherri Dickson, energy worker, says by hosting this class she is opening space for people to give themselves permission to stay still for an hour. "I hope they walk away with opening that door just a little but for them so they go 'oh yeah there are stuff out there that I can do to make myself feel good, and feel healthy, and feel relaxed'."
